What you need AFTER your ducts are cleaned...

In order to clearly demonstrate to insurers and inspectors that your systems have been cleaned to the highest standard, The Building Engineering Services Association (BESA) has introduced an important document which you simply must have after every clean – the TB009.
What is TB009 and why does it matter?
In essence, a TB009 document details what must be present in your post-clean report, or PCR. You must always receive a PCR after every clean as this clearly explains all of the work carried out by a cleaning or maintenance company such as Interduct, giving recommendations where needed and noting any reasons why a complete clean was not possible at that time.
TB009 is key part of the TR19 regulations which were first introduced in 2013. It provides you as a kitchen owner proof that all of the work done on your ducts has been carried out to BESA’s standards, is safe, and that you understand why the work has been carried out.
As a business owner, TB009 is designed to give you extra protection and peace of mind. Insurers are becoming stricter on whether they will pay out should the worst happens, especially if unclean ducts were found to be a contributing factor. But with a TB009 report, you can clearly demonstrate to your insurance company that you took every step possible to prevent the fire and kept your ducts maintained.
What does a typical PCR include?
As a general rule, a PCR should include details of everything a cleaning company like Interduct has done, complete with photographic evidence. There are occasions where a full system clean is not possible, and the report should explain why if this is the case.
PCRs don’t only provide you with a list of what has been carried out but also recommends what steps could be implemented in the future, especially if it’s not been possible to carry out a full clean. It’s the responsibility of the cleaning company to inform you of any fire risks in the report as well and what can be done to address these risks.
Finally, a PCR gives you an idea of how frequently your ducts should be cleaned. This can vary slightly depending on how often certain parts of your systems are operational so be sure to make a note of the date of your next recommended clean.
